Overview of this product
This was once used to store oil, vinegar, soy sauce, etc.
The scenery is beautiful.
The turnip resembles the turnip vegetable, hence the name turnip tokkuri.
This turnip tokkuri has been appraised by Katsura Matasaburo, a leading researcher in old Bizen.
It is wrapped in straw and covered with another container.
The iron in the Bizen clay reacts with the alkali in the straw, producing a red line of colour.
Katsura Matasaburo appraised it as a masterpiece, as the white clay has turned red.
This is literally a turnip tokkuri that represents Bizen.

Historical background
Although it was a time of war, this kabu-tokuri would have been widely used by the emperor, military commanders, and common people alike.
The kabu-tokuri itself was used for daily life, so it was widely used.
An object with such a beautiful view is a masterpiece.

Design
